Youth Council Overview
Aim High’s Student Center announces a call for student leaders to be founding members of the… Aim High Youth Council!
Youth Council members are leaders in their community and in the Aim High Organization. Participation on this council provides an opportunity for Aim High youth to demonstrate their talents, skills and interests while shaping programming.
Aim High programming created by youth for youth!
Council roles and responsibilities include:
- Act as Aim High Ambassadors for fundraising events and student recruitment
- Serve as advisors to Aim High’s Student Center Director and staff
- Support with publications and communications with Aim High students and alumni (Website, My Space, Face Book, Newsletters, flyers and documents for events)
- Produce and promote Aim High events, community service opportunities and workshops
- Cultivate a culture of participation
- Collaborate with other youth groups
- Have Fun while making a difference at Aim High!
Only Requirements:
- You must have participated in the Aim High summer program
- You must be entering 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade in the fall of 2008
- Commit to a 12-month term of service, beginning in May 2008
- Commit to attending an AHYC meeting at least once each month for about two hours
- Participate in the AHYC mandatory Leadership Retreat in the Marin Headlands on Saturday, May 31, 2008. Transportation will be provided
- Complete and submit your Youth Council Application by 5PM on April 4, 2008
