At Celebration Nights across the Bay Area, 234 students graduated from Aim High on Friday, July 31st, joining the thousands who have completed the program that has been serving Bay Area youth for 24 summers. Aim High offers these grads congratulations on their accomplishments, thanks for their campus leadership this summer, best of luck in their high school years, and our sincere hopes that we will see them again soon!
Celebration Night was also a chance to recognize the contributions of Aim High’s outstanding faculty; 53 teachers were recognized for completing their 3rd, 5th, or 10th year with Aim High. The Marc Frauenfelder Scholarship, an award presented to Aim High graduates who have returned to teach in the program and are beginning their first year of college in the fall, was presented to Tina Liu (Aim High Headlands), Daija Foster (AH Lick Wilmerding), Mariah Napoles and Tommy Ng (both AH SF Community; pictured left with Claudia Viek, who established the award in honor of her late husband.) The Anne Murray Ladd Teaching Fellowship, established in memory of an Aim High teacher, was presented to Teaching Intern Grady Jung (AH SF Community).
Celebration Nights at all 11 sites featured their own awards, performances and traditions, ranging from tongue-in-cheek “paper plate awards,” improv games and skits to poetry readings, gallery walks, and recognition of students’ “diamond in the rough” potential.
Huge kudos and thanks to everyone for your incredible work this summer!
