About the Program

Aim High students participate in a 5-week program where students feel confident and safe to be themselves. Our program keeps students active, learning and connected to a community of friends and teachers all summer long. Students will try new things, attend field trips, learn about high school and college preparation and make new friends.

Academics: STEM, Humanities, and Issues & Choices

Throughout the summer students build literacy, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills with STEAM challenges and Humanities. They also develop college and career awareness, researching their options and setting goals for the future.

Community and Connection

Our inclusive community thrives in daily morning circles and weekly assemblies where students and educators play games and team challenges. We create safe, supportive spaces in our signature Issues and Choices class, where students address challenges of identity, peer pressure, bullying and more.

Activities and Field Trips

We challenge students to get active every day, focusing on their own well-being as they try new things and learn skills in non-academic settings. Our engaging activity mix includes dance, sports, yoga, art and cooking classes. Students can participate in activities with community partners which include Women’s Audio Mission, Call of the Sea, Outward Bound, Oakland LaCrosse and much more.. Every Friday students will attend field trips to museums, parks and outdoor sports.

Aim High Has been a lifeline for me as a working parent. I have felt incredibly confident that my child is getting to experience both fun and learning. Communication has been easy, program offerings have been great, and my child enjoys his instructors. This was also a wonderful opportunity for my child to get a taste of middle school transitions between classes, different kinds of enrichment opportunities, new sports, and mentorship.

Restorative Practices & Student Support

At Aim High we strive to create an inclusive environment where staff and students feel they are part of something special and can be their true selves. Aim High has worked to implement restorative practices as a way to prevent as well as respond to conflict, harm and wrong-doing. Our behavior expectations and interventions are rooted in these practices. We uphold everyone to our CORE values of Community, Opportunity, Respect, and High Expectations. Aim High is committed to providing a multi-summer learning experience for students beginning in 5th grade through 8th grade. Students are expected to attend consecutive summers throughout middle school which demonstrates high school readiness and self-confidence to reach their full potential in high school and beyond.

If your child receives school-based support through an IEP or 504 plan, please share documents related to the plans at (admissions@aimhigh.org). Once received we will reach out to you to discuss further.

Guided by our CORE values, we aim to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive. Our team will review any provided material and inform site leaders and site staff about accommodations needed for the purpose of creating an accessible, high-quality environment for all students.

Please note that Aim High is not equipped with a full SPED department at our summer program locations and is unable to provide 1:1 full day support for students at this time.

If you have questions or would like to discuss what support your child is currently receiving to determine if Aim High is the best fit summer program for your child please contact us at 415-551-2301 or admissions@aimhigh.org.

Students love Aim High because they make new friends! prepare for high school! try new experiences! learn in a fun environment!
